STATE LICENSURE VS. ACCREDITATIONArt of Locs Training Academy is licensed by the Tennessee State Board of Cosmetology. This license must be renewed each year. The license allows Art of Locs Training Academy to certify clocked hours in Natural Hair. ● Art of Locs Training Academy is a CASH PAY SCHOOL FOR CLOCK HOURS. ● Art of Locs Training Academy does not accept financial aid or any federal funding. ● Art of Locs Training Academy is not associated with any agency of accreditation or Dept. of Education therefore Art of Locs Training Academy is not ACCREDITED.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTSAll applicants for enrollment will be interviewed by a member of the administrative team. The student will need to furnish a high school transcript or GED certificate/diploma and/or high school diploma along with a driver’s license and/or birth certificate and a Social Security card at the time of enrollment. This academy ‘s policies of admission on instruction and graduation practices do not discriminate based on sex, race, color, ethnic origin, religion or age. Tennessee Board of Cosmetology State Law requires an individual student to be 16 years of age or older to enroll in a Cosmetology, Natural Hair, Aesthetics, or Manicuring course. Art of Locs Training Academy will never recruit or encourage students already enrolled in a similar course of study. Students who are re-entering after a period of withdrawal will re-enter in the same progress status as when they left. This also includes students returning from leave of absence.

SANITATIONAll students will be assigned daily sanitation. Sanitation rules govern all cosmetology students and licensed cosmetologists. Each student is responsible for his/her kit cleanliness. Students in the practical areas are responsible for the cleanliness of their workstations. This follows Tennessee State Board Section 62- 4-124. In addition, Art of Locs Training Academy, will retain a cleaning service that will service the school on a weekly basis.

NATURAL HAIR TRANSFER HOUR POLICYArt of Locs Training Academy will not accept any transfer hours.

NATURAL HAIR COURSE PROGRAMNatural Hair students to graduate successfully complete 300 practical and theory hours composed of the following required units.

CURRICULUMThe three hundred (300) clock hours/9 credit hours of instruction required of an applicant for a natural hair stylist license shall be apportioned as follows: 1. General: 120 clock hours/3.6 credit hours Sanitation, sterilization, bacteriology, shampooing, draping, disorders of hair and scalp, state law and salon management. 2. Physical: 180 clock hours/5.4 credit hours LICENSING CHAPTER 0440-01 (Rule 0440-01-.03, continued) July 2024 (Revised) 8 Twisting, wrapping, weaving, extending, locking, braiding and natural hair styling, by hand or mechanical appliances.

STUDENT HOUR TRACKING• Traditional Sign-In/Roll- Call & Technology Based Record Keeping • Educators will call roll and write the name of the students in attendance alone with clock in/out times during any virtual classes. • After break & lunch times the roll will be looked over to ensure all students are still in attendance, this includes traditional and virtual classrooms • At the end of the day the roll will be emailed to the school administrator for further review and filing. • In addition to students signing in, all students will be uploaded into the HomeBase system (record keeping application) and students are encouraged to download the app to clock in virtually which gives Art of Locs Training Academy two forms of hour tracking and students get to keep track of their own time while they are in the program in addition to weekly hour reports provided by the school.

STUDENT KITTraditional students will receive a kit. Student kits are optional and not required for an Apprenticeship Program. If students decide to purchase an student kit from Art of Locs Training Academy An additional fee of $1,000 will act as an retail purchase, all items within the kit are set forth by the TN State Board of Cosmetology & Barber Board 0440-01-.07 STUDENT KITS. Each student, with school assistance, shall be required to have a kit consisting of the following materials after fifty (50) hours of enrollment in a natural hair styling program: (a) One (1) theory book (electronic or hard copy); (b) One (1) workbook (electronic or hard copy); (c) Two (2) mannequins (ethnic hair); (d) Two (2) bags of braiding hair; (e) Two (2) bags of kinky textured hair; (f) One (1) pack of track hair; LICENSING CHAPTER 0440-01 (Rule 0440-01-.07, continued) July, 2024 (Revised) 16 (g) Four (4) all-purpose combs; (h) One (1) styling cape; (i) One (1) shampoo cape; (j) One (1) plastic pick; (k) Two (2) rat tail combs; (l) One (1) barber comb;

CONTRACT COSTS & PAYMENT TERMSStudent and Sponsor (if applicable) agree to pay Art of Locs Training Academy hereafter referred to as Art of Locs Training Academy or “the school”, the tuition and fees for the program according to the approved payment plan stated below. The school may, at its option and without notice, prevent the student from attending class until any applicable unpaid balance of payments are satisfied. The school may charge a $20.00 fee for transcript requests after the first initial request which is FREE. The school will charge a non-refundable registration fee for all students enrolling in the amount of $500. The school will charge a re-entry fee to students who have withdrawn and wish to re- enter more than 30 days after termination, of $500 plus all applicable overdue or outstanding tuition balances. The tuition rates at the time of re-entry will apply to the balance of training hours needed for students who re-enroll more than 30 days after the formal withdrawal date unless mitigating circumstances apply. GROUNDS FOR DISMISSAL OF STUDENTS15 consecutive days of unexcused absences Breaking rules and regulations after two (2) warnings. Continual tardiness and absences below (80%) from theory or practical services. Non- Payment of Tuition Use of Drugs or Alcohol Use of Profanity or Immoral conduct (such as drug use, drug sale, stealing, etc.) Low Grades below (80%) due to lack of effort after training. Disruptive behavior (arguing/fighting) in the classroom or practical area

ANTI-HARASSMENT POLICYArt of Locs Training Academy has zero tolerance for activities that create a safety hazard to others. These such activities include, but are not limited to, sexual harassment, verbal abuse, bullying, or violence.

ANTI-DISCRIMINATION POLICYArt of Locs Training Academy does not discriminate against students, employees, or applicants for admission or employment on the basis of race, color, religion, creed, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity/expression, disability, age, status as a protected veteran, genetic information, or any other legally protected class with respect to all employment, programs and activities sponsored by the Art of Locs Training Academy Any student found to be using, dispensing, or carrying illegal drugs will be suspended for one (1) week and placed on probation for one (1) month. If this should occur again, it would result in immediate termination of enrollment (expulsion). If you feel you need help with any drug or alcohol related problem, please feel free to see the school Director or any other member of the staff that you may feel comfortable talking to.
